Think about this when planning your project page

  1. Project description - short, to the point, strong call to action and dates for contributions.
  2. Widgets selected and content developed for the right side of the page.
  3. Engagement tools selected and content developed. See Quick Poll, Guest Book, Q & A, Places, Ideas, Newsfeed, Forums, Stories, and Surveys
  4. Participation level selected - assessed based on the risk of the project, the higher the value (financial or emotion) and the higher risk the project, the stronger the need for registered participation.
  5. Project image -

What to consider for your Project Description:


What is this engagement about? (Why are we engaging?)

Help participants learn what the project is about starting with the most important information.

Think about who your are reaching out to and what matters to them. How the project will affect them and what do they need to know to participate.

Some rules:

  • 250 - 300 words\
  • Grade 8 -10 level language
  • Make use of widgets on the right to add additional information so that the description is not too overwhelming)
  • use readable to vet your copy(External link)
  • NO JARGON!
  • All Images with Alternative Text for Blind or Visually Impaired
  • Videos with Subtitles for Deaf or Hearing Impaired

How do I participate?

Make information easy to find, links, instructions but not too much.
